Road safety for children
Children are a particularly vulnerable group as far as road safety is concerned. When it's time for the new school year to start in September, you'll see banners drawing attention to their safety, under the motto: ‘It's school time again'. The police also hold regular checks for proper bike lights.

‘Woonerven', Safe & Sustainable
‘Woonerven' have proved to be an important way to increase road safety for children. The speed limit in ‘woonerven' is walking speed. Safe & Sustainable also includes the installation of 30 kilometer zones in residential areas. These zones are indicated by signs. Speed bumps or chicanes reduce the traffic speed in these zones to no more than 30 kilometers per hour.
