From life in prehistoric times right through to ultramodern art: if you want to combine relaxation and learning, one of the Eindhoven museums is a good choice.

The spectacular growth of Eindhoven at the end of the nineteenth century is closely linked to the establishment of Philips and the successful production of lamps. The history of the electric lamp is kept alive in the oldest Philips factory building on the Emmasingel in Eindhoven. The presentation starts with making carbon-filament lamps by hand in 1891, and ends with the mechanization in the 1920s. For more information and photos, take a look at www.philipsfabriek1891.nl
