Of course you can't work all the time, and you also need to relax. You're in the right place, because Eindhoven is a fantastic city for going out. Just take the ‘Stratumseind': around forty bars in a space of just 200 meters! As well as that, Eindhoven has lots of cinemas, music venues and theaters. And every season there are plenty of interesting events in the city center. You won't be bored for a moment!
Eindhoven is also a great place for sports, with a wide range of facilities. For example the Sports Center, located on the TU/e campus. There you'll be able to take part in more than forty different sports activities. Find out more at https://venus.tue.nl/sci-cgi/index.opl (in Dutch).
As a Fontys student you can use the facilities of the Sports Center on the campus of the TU/e. Membership costs around 55 euro and gives you access to many different sports. For more information, call the TU/e Sports Center at +31 40 247 32 32 or visit http://www.tue.nl/sportcentrum/ (in Dutch).
Eindhoven excels in the sports facilities that are available. There are two major sports centers, one in the south and one in the north of the city. In the south sports center there is an Olympic swimming pool, an ice skating and ice hockey rink and an indoor sporting arena in which international tennis, volleyball and gymnastics matches are held. There are also hockey and football fields. In the north sports center there is a wide choice of sports including hockey, football, indoor climbing, (beach) volleyball, boxing, tennis, squash, badminton to give just a few examples.
As well as active participation, you can also enjoy sports as a spectator. Eindhoven has two professional football clubs, PSV (choose English) and FC Eindhoven (in Dutch), and it has a top hockey team, Oranje Zwart (in Dutch).
You'll find information about going out and performing arts under City life & Events.
