High Tech Systems & Materials - including mechatronics and automotive - is one of the three pillars of Eindhoven Brainport with significant opportunities. Not just in the region, but throughout the south-east of the Netherlands. Communication lines are short. The sector, which has 56,000 employees (a quarter of the total in the Netherlands), is regularly in the top 3 to 5 of every innovation scoreboard. That means there are plenty of opportunities for potential investors;
The second pillar is Food & Nutrition. One-fifth of all knowledge workers in the Netherlands, a total of 10,000, work in this sector. In this pillar, good opportunities are offered mainly by logistics systems and knowledge of ingredients. At the same time the high prices and scarcity of traditional fuels means there are also opportunities for the development of bio-fuels.
With companies such as Philips Medical Systems and Organon in Oss, it's clear that the third pillar, Medical Systems & Life Sciences, is well represented. Thanks to the broadly based knowledge and expertise, opportunities in this sector are mainly in areas like molecular imaging and mechatronics for medical systems. Brainport therefore offers plenty of opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs.
