Eindhoven has some surprising places to live.
Wide variety
Eindhoven has a lot of different residential areas. Currently under construction at the west of the city is Meerhoven, a large new development with predominantly modern architecture. At the south-east is Gijzenrooi, a relatively young area with a wide variety of types of homes. Longer established areas include the Villa park, the Witte Dorp (a protected urban area), the Schrijversbuurt and the Drents Dorp. The latter was built in the 1920s for Philips employees.
