You can expect a high quality level of cultural facilities in a city with a population of around 210,000. In the last fifteen years the city has made big investments in improving and extending the existing facilities. The result: a brand-new music center, a new ‘middenzaal' for the city's theater (‘Stadsschouwburg'), and a new podium for specific kinds of pop music. But of course you can also make your own music or (learn to) act.

The Frits Philips Music Center, embedded in the Heuvel Galerie, is regarded as one of Europe's top ten concert halls. It's renowned among musicians and listeners alike for its excellent acoustics. There are two halls: a large hall seating 1,250, and a small hall with a capacity of 400. The program is very varied, ranging from classical and light music to pop, rock, jazz and folk.
