You can expect a high quality level of cultural facilities in a city with a population of around 210,000. In the last fifteen years the city has made big investments in improving and extending the existing facilities. The result: a brand-new music center, a new ‘middenzaal' for the city's theater (‘Stadsschouwburg'), and a new podium for specific kinds of pop music. But of course you can also make your own music or (learn to) act.
Dynamo
Dynamo is a meeting place that's intended mainly for young people interested in culture and sport. That includes hardrockers and gabbers, but also hiphoppers and punks. It also offers educational support for young people. Girls from 12 to 23 get together here on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You can find the full program at
