You can expect a high quality level of cultural facilities in a city with a population of around 210,000. In the last fifteen years the city has made big investments in improving and extending the existing facilities. The result: a brand-new music center, a new ‘middenzaal' for the city's theater (‘Stadsschouwburg'), and a new podium for specific kinds of pop music. But of course you can also make your own music or (learn to) act.
De Fabriek
De Fabriek is located in a former factory hall. Its policies and organization are handled by artists. The space is used not so much to exhibit art as to make it. To see exactly what they do there, go to www.defabriek.net (in Dutch).
