Architecture

The face of Eindhoven is changing rapidly. Tower buildings like De Regent, De Admirant and the characteristic Vesteda Tower show a new sense of self-confidence. But old buildings certainly aren't being forgotten. For example the Witte Dorp area (the ‘white village') is a preserved urban site. The city council is promoting the work of architects and urban planners by awarding a biannual architectural prize.

Architectural Day

National Architectural Day is held each year on a weekend around 1 July. The aim of the day, which was held for the first time in 1986, is to bring architecture to the attention of the broadest possible target audience. It does that in a number of different ways, for example by means of boat trips, cycle tours, children's events, lectures, exhibitions and guided tours and walks. The city of Eindhoven also devotes a lot of attention to this day each year.
